Peaceful Pets Pet Sitting (formerly Sandy Paws Pet Sitting) is a full service professional pet sitting company established in 2002 with well over 100 clients. We are licensed, insured, and bonded. Our pet sitting service area includes the Collins Hill area and most of the 30043 zip code in Lawrenceville and also Sugar Hill and the Lake Lanier areas of Buford and Cumming.

About Kay

Hi there! Before becoming a pet sitter and business owner, I worked in retail management for nearly 20 years. Starting as a sales associate, I worked my way up to district manager, supervising up to 14 stores and overseeing millions of dollars in sales. I worked for Lerner NY, the Container Store, and Pottery Barn—all fun places to shop I might add! Although I will never regret my first career choice, I knew for a long time that what I was doing wasn’t exactly the right fit anymore.

Animals (of all kinds) have been a major part of my life since childhood. Some of my first and fondest memories as a child were when my family cared for animals at a wildlife rescue called ‘The Outdoor Classroom’ in Florida. Since my greatest passion has ALWAYS been animals, I endeavored to make a career out of caring for them. In 2004 I took the bold leap into the unknown and decided to become a professional pet sitter!

My husband and I have 6 furry family members: 3 dogs (Chow Chows) and 3 cats. Plus I have hundreds of extended furry, feathered, and finned family members out there by way of my beloved Peaceful Pets ‘family.’

Because animals have been such a healing factor and a blessing in my own life, I became interested in other ways to be of service to them. I became a Reiki Practitioner and Animal Reiki Teacher. Reiki is a Japanese method of energy healing for animals and people. Since animals are the inspiration for my career and personal healing journey, I look for ways that I can give back and help animals in need. I do this by volunteering my time offering Reiki to animals in sanctuaries, rescues, and shelters. I also teach the system of Reiki free of charge to the staff of these organizations. About Laurie

I knew from a very young age that I was destined to work with animals. As a child, I spent many afternoons sitting in my favorite tree dreaming of the day that I would grow up and become a Marine Biologist or a Veterinarian. I’ve always had a deep affinity for all animals and everyone always told me that I had a way with them.

My entire career has revolved around service-related work. This spans from my first job as a lifeguard, my service in the United States Army, and later with my work as both a police and fire/rescue dispatcher. All of these jobs were rewarding but something was missing…animals. In 1997, I was inspired to start a pet sitting business of my own! I developed a very loyal list of clients in a rather short amount of time. My business grew by leaps and bounds and I was ecstatic!

I always felt there was more in store for me though and I was right. In 2001, I heard about an energy healing system called Reiki and innately knew I needed to study it. In 2006, I began to officially offer services as a Reiki Practitioner to both people and their pets. I have also worked extensively in animal rescue and consider myself an animal advocate. I have fostered numerous animals for the Humane Society of Forsyth County as well.

I reside in the Sugar Hill area with my husband of 16 years and our daughter. We currently share our home with 3 mixed breed dogs, a Betta fish, and a Pink Toe Tarantula name Charlotte.
